Describe the inquiry activity you will use for your informal assessment review. Explain what science practice(s) it will teach and how you plan to assess them. Use the template "EDC 484 S09 RJ04 - Assessing Inquiry".

The inquiry activity I can use in my Density Lab. It has already been performed. Students were able to experiment with density using two variables, temperature and salinity. In Part A, they experimented with red, warm water and observed where it travelled when added to luke-warm water versus cold, blue water. Then they experimented with salty and unsalty water. At the end, they were able to make a salt rainbow. I assessed them by having them fill out a worksheet that recorded their observations in each of the three parts of lab. Next, I had them do a worksheet that asked them the reasons behind their observations to get them more familiar with how density works.

This sounds like an interesting activity. What science practices were you able to address, or might address in the future? - fogleman fogleman Feb 19, 2009
